2 DAY CPD LEADERSHIP INTERVENTION
Step In, Don't Step Back
STOP MANAGING. START LEADING.
Our Leadership Intervention: Step In, Don't Step Back is a practical, intensive two-day CPD intervention designed to help managers and supervisors become more confident, capable and accountable leaders. This isn’t generic management training. It is about changing leadership behaviour and giving people practical tools they can use immediately in the workplace.
The intervention is designed for organisations with:
• Managers who need to step up
• Supervisors who have been promoted without proper leadership development
• Inconsistent management standards
• Difficult people or performance issues
• Managers avoiding difficult conversations
• Lack of accountability
• Leaders lacking confidence
• Organisations wanting practical behavioural change rather than another tick-box training course
The intervention tackles issues such as:
-
Poor communication: Managers who communicate inconsistently or don’t know how to have the right conversations.
-
Avoidance: Managers who avoid difficult conversations because they don’t know how to handle them.
-
Lack of Accountability: Standards aren’t maintained because people aren’t challenged when they should be.
-
Inconsistent Leadership: Different managers operating to completely different standards.
-
Lack of Confidence: Managers who know something isn’t right but don’t feel equipped to deal with it.
-
Poor Leadership Behaviour: Managers who don’t recognise the impact their own behaviour has on their teams.
What happens over the 2 days?
The focus throughout is practical application, not sitting through endless theory.
DAY ONE: LEADER
Delegates explore:
• Leadership versus management
• Personal responsibility
• Leadership behaviour
• Communication
• Confidence
• Emotional intelligence
• Understanding your impact on others
• Setting standards
• Building trust
• Taking ownership
DAY TWO: LEADING PEOPLE
Delegates put leadership into practice through:
• Accountability
• Difficult conversations
• Challenging behaviour
• Performance conversations
• Managing expectations
• Giving feedback
• Conflict
• Decision-making
• Maintaining standards
• Creating consistency
• Practical leadership scenarios
What the delegates get
Delegates leave with:
• A clearer understanding of effective leadership
• Greater confidence in their leadership role
• Practical communication tools
• Greater confidence handling difficult conversations
• A stronger understanding of accountability
• Tools for dealing with behaviour and performance
• A clearer understanding of their own leadership behaviour
• Practical strategies they can use immediately
• A different mindset around what it means to lead people
Most importantly, they leave understanding that leadership is something you do – not a job title you have.
Why is it different from conventional management training?
Most management training teaches people about management. This intervention is designed to make people better at leading. It’s practical, challenging and behavioural.
Less about: “Here’s a slide about leadership theory.”
More about: “Here’s the situation you’re facing. What are you going to do about it?”
Delegates are expected to participate, think, challenge themselves and apply what they’re learning. The aim is to create real workplace behaviour change, rather than another training course that people complete and forget.
